Arijit Singh Live in Concert: An enchanting Evening of Music
Getting Ready
Arijit Singh Live in Concert, on 7th December at GMR Arena in Hyderabad was an event we had been eagerly anticipating. Known for his punctuality, boundless energy, and engaging interactions with the crowd, as shared by friends and family, this was an evening poised to sweep us off our feet
Near to the airport, the drive to the venue was smooth through ORR. We arrived early, and there was ample parking space. Had to walk some distance from the parking lot to the arena. Well-arranged and managed entry gates with wristbands, enough toilet areas inside each ticket class area and F&B counters at both ends of the venue in each ticket class area. Except for the Platinum, the rest of the tickets were all standing. Thoughtfully arranged stage, with a runway stage that stretches out from the main stage into the audience, allowing the performer to interact more closely with the crowd, was an arrangement that we loved as the runway stage ends at gold class ticket area, where we were standing.
For the concert scheduled to start at 6:30 PM, we arrived at the stadium around 5 PM. The gold class ticket, which initially cost Rs. 6,500 per ticket but was officially selling for Rs. 9,000 per ticket as the event approached proved to be a worthwhile investment. The standing area near the edge of the runway stage provided excellent opportunities to see Arijit Singh up close and hear him interact with the audience.
The concert produced by hyperlink and promoted by insider.in (Zomato Live) and Fever FM, was well arranged and managed. Had decent F&B options, with a rechargeable pre-paid card to buy across the counters, ranging from biryani, pizza, burgers to momos and fries amongst others. Alcohol was served as well.
Concert
The concert commenced punctually, featuring an impressive instrumental piece and effective use of lighting to welcome Arijit onto the stage, guitar in hand, as he delivered a powerful rendition of "Ilahi”. Thankfully, there was no opening act or an RJ struggling to engage the crowd. What ensued was an enchanting evening filled with a diverse range of songs, performances, and live interaction with the audience.
Arijit endeared himself to the crowd through his live engagement across all sections of the crowd, continuously walking across the breadth and length of the stage including the runway, encouraging the crowd to sing along by passing a microphone and interacting with them appreciatively and playfully. At times, he became emotional, touched by the affection from the audience, including a moment when a section of the crowd presented him with a photo frame of his mother.
He patiently signed autographs, primarily reserving this activity for the latter part of the event while maintaining his vocal performance. Autograph materials varied widely, including handbags, notebooks, mobile phone covers, jackets, and other items, which were thrown onto the stage by enthusiastic fans.
It's incredible to think that Arijit performed on stage for 3.5 hours straight, singing about 60 songs with unwavering energy, ending the show with the crowd erupting in cheers as he sang the final song, “Deva Deva.”
Summary
Arijit's voice transformed every song into a memorable experience. His presence filled the arena, reaching everyone with each note, whether it was a soft ballad or a romantic tune. Alongside Arijit's brilliant voice, the production was spectacular. The LED lights jiggled with live music and radiated color across the crowd. They created a stunning visual backdrop that went perfectly with each song’s emotion. This integration of imagery and audio created a completely immersive feel.
The stage was huge, with all three screens visible from behind, allowing even those at the back to see clearly. The atmosphere was elevated by Arijit’s band's glittering performances, adding another layer of perfection to the evening.
Arijit Singh's gig at the GMR Arena in Hyderabad will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most enchanting shows in the city's musical history. From his powerful singing to the energy of the stage, and the arrangements at the venue, the evening proved to be the best at a concert. We went home with an experience to never forget, looking forward to his next performance.
