A multiplex experience of watching a limited edition of National Geo channel underwater sequences, thats what we felt after watching the movie. Contrast to what the the crew claimed there wasn't much of a shark fighting or scare, though the underwater sequences were shot well by cinematographer Pete Zuccarini, who has ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ to his credit.
The story goes like this Aarav (Akshay Kumar) and Sagar (Sanjay Dutt) are good friends who own a fishing business and bond over fishing and boxing. Aarav, the richie rich man, is interested in a sunken ship called ‘Lady in Blue’ ,because it carries a treasure lost in 1949 when the ship sank on its way from England to India. Sagar is the only person who knows bout this and can find his way to the sunken treasure , but he has some emotional strings attached to the sunken ship. He won’t go there for any temptation, any except brotherly love. Sam (Zayed Khan), Sagar’s younger brother, who is misiing from his home flaunts bike-speeding skills in Bangkok and gets into a mess with a local mafia don (Rahul Dev) and flees back to his brother Sagar in Bahamas. He needs big money to get away from Rahul Dev and the only option left is to go looking for the sunken treasure trove with Aarav and Sam.
Watch the film for Akshay, who is splendid. Sanjay Dutt looks tired and swollen,Lara Dutta's bikini act doesn't impress much nor does Kylie Minogue's "Chiggy Wiggy". Zayed Khan does better than what we’ve seen from him in the past. Rahul Dev has a lengthier role than Katrina who’s there only for a few minutes.
Debutant director Anthony D’Souza, also the co-writer of screenplay, makes a fine debut but doesn't impress much. Looks like all his money spent is washed down the drain.Blue’ is touted as Bollywood’s first underwater, action adventure thriller and the most costliest too.
All in all not such a worthy watch.
