Aditya Park
‘Kerala Sadhya’, a food festival from Kerala, is being hosted by Aditya Park, Ameerpet.
If authentic Kerala delicacies tickle your taste buds you shouldn't give this food festival a miss. Hyderabadis can now enjoy a culinary experience so rare that it brings the taste and flavour of the entire state.Sadhya in Malayalam refers to “big feast”.Though a traditional sadya is a vegetarian meal served on a plantain or banana leaf, having upto 24 dishes served in it, the sumptuous buffet spread here (54 dishes) is a fusion of Trichur, Travancore, Nasrani (Christian) and Maplah(Muslim) dishes with the right balance of veg and non veg dishes.
Appetizers included Kurumulagu rasam (Pepper rasam) and Kozhi soup (chicken soup). There were about six varities of pickles including chicken and fish pickle, five varities of salads and six vareities of chutneys. The main course features a number of mouth-watering delicacies like Avial (mixed vegetable curry with curd and coconut paste), Ullitheeyal (mixed gravy Shallots), Urulai Mezhukku Peratti (potato cubes fried with shallots and red chilli flakes), Kalan (curd preparation), Vegetable Stew, and variety of thorans (vegetables and grated coconuts) just to name a few. There were a variety of non veg dishes which also included the famous chicken biriyani (kerala style but obvious). And of course, there are the appams, Pittu (steamed rice flour preparation) and Malabar parathas to compliment the above delights. There were a variety of Kerala Pradhamans (desserts) which included Ada Pradhaman (rice jaggery kheer),semiyan payasam (vermicelli kheer), nay halwa (Halva made of pure ghee),khadu kheer (not a kerala preparation) and many more, which promise to complete the exotic experience.
The ambience is very well done up highlighting the Kerala tradition and culture. The service was exceptionally good. Although being Keralites and this being our second year of attending the sadya ,we would keep wanting to go for this place just for their very authentic and tasty cuisine.
The ratings given below are only the food festival rating although their regular buffet and A'la carte are equally exceptional.
